Giving my wife a percentage of my pension?

Stephen first contacted us in March 2013. He worked in Financial Services and had two children (one dependent) with his wife Mary. There was no jointly held property. They married in 1985 and separated in 2000. A separation agreement was signed in 2001.

Stephen and Mary had discussed the terms of the divorce before contacting Easy Divorce. Stephen had agreed to give Mary 50% of his pension for the period when they were married. Easy Divorce prepared a Pension Order for him on this basis and also documented this in his divorce documentation.

Easy Divorce handled all pension matters for Stephen and liaised directly with his pension company. While in this case they were slow to respond all pension matters were agreed by July 2013.

Stephen and Mary’s divorce was granted in October. Their divorce took slightly longer than usual as the courts are closed in August and September.

Entire cost to Stephen was €700 including all pension matters.
